At the north end, corner of Calle Cuadrante and Hernández Macías, is Casa del Inquisidor, "the House of the Inquisitor," marked with a stone cross in the wall and eighteenth century tilework. This place was where victims of the Spanish Inquisition were jailed.
Also on this street is El Nigromante, originally the cloister of the neighboring convent. It is today part of the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) known in San Miguel simply as "Bellas Artes." |
